Homemade crackers? Can I really do that? This was my thought when i first started to really make everything from scratch. Crackers? How in the world would I make crackers? Side stepping a minute to realize I grew up in Northern New Jersey, a place where when you ask "where does milk come from?" they say "the store", may put some things into perspective for you. Anyways my girls love their crackers(they basically live on the things) and I was sick of worrying about what the manufacturers put in them. Plus homemade crackers must taste better then the store bought ones with cheese and wine. I found crackers are super easy to make, especially if you have a pasta roller. One note is that "butter crackers" taste best when thin, like see through thin. About a number 4 on my kitchen aid pasta roller. Make sure to put it through the rollers at each individual setting, 1, 2, 3 and 4. If you don't have a pasta roller not a problem just use a rolling pin. To tell for thickness place your hand under the dough. If you can only see the outline of your hand roll a little more until you can slightly see the color of your hand as well. Graham crackers on the other hand are a bit more thick. Large cookie or jelly roll pans do best for cooking your crackers. Most crackers have a dough that's stiff and not sticky therefore you don't have to worry about preparing the pans with oil or non stick spray. I have collected multiple recipes from the web below. Everona Market Crackers (pictured above made by Arielle) Taste like a buttery salt-less saltine. Wonderful multipurpose cracker.
